Adelein's Baptism 10-16-10

Addie was double dunked! Sweet Adelein had a great day! Daddy baptized and confirmed her, Mom and Grandma Bird gave talks, her brothers sang "When I am Baptized" (Rainbows) with her. All on a beautiful Fall day. Since then she has been busily recording everything in her baptism journal. Everything was so special, we wish you all could have been there. She even wore the dress I wore for my baptism. I love it when my kids make good choices!! Love ya bunches, Katie

Sherry found James' blessing outfit for Easton to wear. It fits him really well, it's just funny for our fourth son to get the outfit instead of the first. We sure are glad to pass it on though. James, Grandpa Bird, Uncle Isaac, President Turner, and a friend Bro. Nichols were in the circle. It was a very special blessing.
This makes me think of the song "Fathers Are So Special . . . with a very special love."

Easton is our biggest baby which is probably a good thing. With his crazy, rowdy, older siblings he will have to hold his own. It's neat to see how similar each baby is and yet how different. Each spirit is so special and individual, but as far as looks, they've all got MCKAY stamped in their genes.

It is such an amazing blessing to have a family. Knowing we are sealed for eternity makes every day more full of joy. We love you!

Those stinking monkeybars!! We must have forgotten to feed Addie her banana because she wasn't very monkey like. She fell on her wrist on Sat. It wasn't feeling any better on Tues. so we took her in. It was a small crunched area on the outside of her wrist. That was 2 weeks ago. All they had was white casts, a little disappointing for Addie. So her artist mother used it like a canvas. She loves it and is excited to show it to everyone. She let her family and some of her friends sign the back. Today she went to get it checked with James and came home with just a little brace. The doc said it was healed enough to let her swim and that way she wouldn't miss out on too much summer. I think that was the easiest and shortest cast and am thankful for a healthy happy family. She said "Now she has something fun for show and tell next school year."

Here's Sawyer and Carson at an Ogden Raptors game. Everytime we walk into the McKay house Carson is the first one to grab him and will hold him forever if no one else wanted to hold him!

Brittan and Anna always come over and are great sitters. They definitely keep Sawyer entertained and they wear him out:)

Yippee! He's here!!! 8lbs. 6oz. 20 in. A healthy, happy baby.

Easton was breach when I went to my last appointment. He had been head down and dropped for over a week. So it was a surprise to us all that he decided to be a gymnist and flip around. The doctor sent me right over to labor and delivery for an ultrasound to confirm his position and an attempt to turn him. The turning attempt was put off a few times for other mothers who were in more emergency situations. By the time we were ready to try I was in labor. The turning didn't go well when there was only 4 minutes between contractions. Blood pressure and heart beat dropped so we headed to a c-section. All went well, it just wasn't what I was planning on. I had to be doubly dosed with the epidural to be numb which made the next day or two miserable. That stuff just stays in my system and I couldn't get out of bed for what seemed like forever. Thankfully much better today so I can enjoy being a mommy again!

Shawn's Marathon

Shawn ran the Ogden marathon on May 15th. He did awesome! He ran it in 4 hours and 4 minutes. We are so proud of his accomplishment and it sounds like he is going to run it again next year. He is also trying to find some 1/2 & full marathons for later this year. He had a fun time, he did end up getting a bloody nose on mile 21, which he said sucked. He keeps trying to talk others into running with him. We'll see who else starts running. I can't wait to get back into running with him!

So we had our big ultrasound and they did 3D pictures for us. I thought I would share them with you all. With this ultrasound it did confirm that it is a little girl. Kelsee is way excited and keeps trying to come up with some interesting names. When we do finally come up with a name we will let you know.

Are you sure?

We told Adelein the news Monday night after the ultrasound that morning. "It's a BOY!" She said, "Are you sure?" I told her it was pretty obvious and that it was confirmed by two techs. She said, "Okaaaay. I guess we'll still have a cute tiny baby." Carsten is very excited! He was betting on a boy the whole time. (James was too) Carsten wanted another fun wrestling buddy like Dallas.

We are all staying busy to the extreme. I don't remember the last time I saw James except when we were falling asleep or on our way out the door. Everyone is trying hard in all this commotion to pass their classes including Brigham. Spelling has been a problem subject this year and with us busy with our homework it's hard to fit in extra time to study with him. James came up with the idea that Addie helps Brigg and Brigg helps Addie with math. After two weeks we're seeing progress.

Sharing Mom!

The last couple weeks we had the joy of getting Mom all to ourselves! She was sooo wonderful and we would have kept her forever if everyone didn't keep begging her to come back. She was such a big help to have around while Jeremy has surgery and during his short recovery (which we probably prolonged a little bit:)). Thanks for being such an awesome Mom and we miss you already!!! We're looking forward to being closer to everyone!

We're enjoying very beautiful Fall weather this Halloween!

The kids had fun raiding Grandma's dress-up chest for their costumes. James had us walking all over the neighborhood until Dallas fell asleep. Then he and the older 3 kidos went driving to a few more houses while I'm staying with the sleeping giraffe and passing out candy.

Yesterday we got to take Don and Sherry down to Old Sacramento. They were having Gold Rush Days so it was alot of fun to see how it was back in those days. They had booths with lots of different things like saloons, dance halls, and the Mormon Battalion. They had dirt all over the roads and didn't let cars down there. We got to go into the Train Museum and Don loved it! He could have stayed there all day. So We thought that we would share some pictures with you!

Goldenwes 5k run for schools March 28, 2009

Tyler, and I ran Casey walked the Goldenwest 5k run for schools. It was a very cold morning, but also a lot of fun. I ran it in 22:14 almost 2 minutes faster than my previous 24:08 I took 70th over all and 9 in my age division. Tyler ran it in 25:43 and took 113th out of 4,000 and 22 in his age division. Casey walked with a cute girl so I guess that's good enough for him. I added some pictures I was in the paper you can barley see me and Tyler was on the standard web site photo he's behind the two girls. One down many more to come. I'll keep you posted. Shawn

Princess Coco Chanel

Here are new pictures of Coco she now weighs 3 lbs. the vet said she will now taper of on her growth and she will be very petite.

Gracie discovered her bed and she wasn't sure what to think about that! But she does like to sleep on people.

I have this picture of Tosha's baby Jasmine, she's so tiny but she is really doing well. She now weighs over 6lbs and doesn't need oxygen or the heart monitor.

Jeremy's Surgery!

Jeremy's surgery went really well! He had it yesterday to get his polyp removed and his deviated septum fixed. He got his tubes taken out of his ear and the doctor said that he didn't need new ones in now so he doesn't have tubes in his ears anymore. The doctor came out to talk to me and let me know how big the polyp was and she told me it was a little bigger than a golf ball! I couldn't believe it...cuz we could only see a little part of it. But they tested it and it was benign thank goodness! We're grateful that he got to have this surgery done finally! He's feeling alot better today than he did yesterday. He's keeping the pain medicine down and tolerating the pain better. We're glad that Don and Kim could come out and we get to keep Kim around for a little while. We love you all!

Happy Valentines Day (a little late)

Our Valentines Day was lots of fun. We had a great family day in St. Louis. The kids have been earning points so we can have fun family activity days each month. They wanted to ride the metro train in St. Louis. What better place than to ride it to the Gateway Arch? It was way toooo cold for this adventure, but it had been in the planning for a couple weeks and we couldn't disappoint the kids, so we went anyway. Under the Arch is a nice warm museum about western expansion. The tickets to ride the tram to the top were sold out. Dallas liked the animals the most. They had robotic manikins for cowboys and Indians that talked and moved. That was so fasinating and kinda scary for Carsten.

2009 Pinewood derby winner

This is a proud moment for our family. Carson's cub scout pack made cars for their pinewood derby this past month. Carson designed his car, though one of the leaders did the actual cutting. Carson sanded the car, painted it - with help from dad and mom - and Jason put the wheels on. So, in all most of the work was done by him with a little help from others. Well, we had the pack pinewood derby at the church tonight, January 30, 2009. Our expectations weren't very high and Carson's car totally exceeded them. He came in 1st place 7 times and 3rd place once. Needless to say, Carson's car took first place. As you can see, he's beaming from ear to ear. It was very exciting for him! We were really proud of the way he handled himself with his friends. He was really kind to them and complimentary of them and their cars. In all, we had a great night! Definately one we'll remember. Just wanted to share a hightlight of Carson's life with you. We love all of you and always will. love Trish, Jay, Carson, Andie, Trevor and Micah

Missouri McKays

Dallas loves his first ear hat! He is such a ball boy. He spends most of his time at home throwing and finding a ball. He could actually say football before he said Mommy. I think he looks a lot like James and Don, what do you think?
We had fun over Thanksgiving staying in a condo in the Osage Beach, MO area. My Mom's sister and parents flew in for the week. This is the kids watching Sat. morning cartoons. A real big treat in our family.

Thanks for the awesome PJs G&G! They fit perfectly as you can tell. We had an awesome Christmas! Thanks to all of you! We love you very much! Shawn and Charee thanks for the quilt! We've never had anything so nice for our bed. We love it.

Brigham was Rudolph for his elementary Christmas program. He did a spectacular job dancing in his raindeer costume! We especially enjoyed the shaking of his fluffy little tail. :0)

Hi all,

We just thought we'd share a few pics of our christmas. It was a good one. We had a party, with 3 families we are rather close to here in Germany, on Christmas Eve. On Christmas day we just opened presents and played. It was great. Thank you so much for the gifts that you sent. We truly appreciate all the thought and love that went into each one. Christmas day night we went to the Baillio's home and had dinner, played games, and watched "The Grinch." In all it was a great holiday! The best part was Jason was able to have the week off of work and spend it with us. Today, which is Friday, Dec. 26, we went to the BX optical shop and picked up Micah and Trevor's glasses. That was their BIG present for this year. They both have a stigmatism and will be wearing glasses for quite some time. Luckily they both look cute in them and are excited to wear them.

We love you all and miss you just as much!

Can you believe that this was our second time raking up the leaves in our backyard. This pile was almost as tall as Shawn and Tyler and when we threw Kelsee and Calvin in the leaves they were completely covered. We all had lots of fun and really enjoyed our fun day jumping in the leaves.

I just wanted to let everyone know that I am really grateful for all the calls we got! My birthday celebrations started off pretty rough with the truck getting broken into, but everyone calling me really helped! It made me think how grateful I am for everything I have. That I have family that is there for Jer and I! At least our whole truck didn't get stolen like they tried (yah recent discovery...why we couldn't get it to start) and we have each other!

I wish I took pictures of our dinner and the surprise party Jer put together with the bishop and his family. I think they took some so I'll have to get those from them! But it ended up being a good birthday! Thanks again everyone. We love you all!

Isn't it ironic that I'm dressed as a basketball player, the costume Jason should have worn. Oh well. Everyone got a good laugh out of it. Jason was dressed as himself and took the pictures so he didn't have to be in them. Lucky him!

Halloween with the Mears

Andie, the pirate princess. Carson, the Pro Golfer and the Magician. Trevor, the cowboy. And Micah, a Jedi, Obi Wan Kanobi. We had a great Halloween. We did trunk or treat last week on the 24th at the church. On Halloween we had a party at our house with a few families. It was great! As you can see our kids love dressing up! Carson was the pro golfer for the trunk or treat and the magician for the Halloween party. Hope you all had a great Halloween. We love you and miss you tons.

Soccer Season in Germany

Micah, Trevor, Andie and Carson our soccer kids! Trevor going after the ball. He was totally excited when he was able to kick it. He almost got a goal a few times. He is on the Blue Lightnings.

Andie was great this year. She just needed to be more aggressive. She was one of the best on her team. She was on the Green Dragons.

Carson was amazing! He is really getting the concept of playing positions on soccer. He is great at both offense and defense. His problem is he still played both since he was so fast and all over the field. He would be on defense and be up at the line doing offensive plays, then run down to the goal and defend it from the other team within seconds. His team loved him! He played for the Black Knights.

Micah is just dressed up to practice for next year. He will then be old enough to play. He can't wait as you can tell.

In all, it was a good season. The kids learned a lot and had fun.

Kade's 2nd Birthday & First Deer Hunting Trip!!!!

Kade's 2nd Birthday! He loved the candles on the cake didn't really like opening the presents but once they were opened the toys were great.

Kade's first deer hunting trip with Uncle Duane and Daddy! They didn't come home with a deer :( but did bring home some jackrabbit.

Learnin how to fish with Uncle Duane.

Taking after dad too fast too soon, he knew how to start the 4 wheeler and go without dad's help. (That was the scary part) He loved the 4 wheeler but as kade calls it, it's the vroom, vroom.

We gave Calvin his first Haircut last night. We did not realize how much hair he actually had until we were all finished. He looks so much more grown up with it short. Shawn says, "To purchase a loch of his hair please send .10 cents to the charity for children loosing hair, Thank You."

This summer one of Kelsee's highlights was being able to hold a baby boa snake. She absolutly loved it. She loves all little creatures and is constanting telling us she wants all sorts of animals.

First Day of School

Carson, Andie and Trevor were on their way to meet the bus for school. Micah will be going to pre-school on Sept. 17. He was so excited that he wanted to dress up and join the kids at the bus stop. He was pretty sad when he couldn't ride the bus with them.

I'll be taking all the kids to school when Micah starts pre-school because they all start at 8am. Micah is done at 1:30pm when I'll pick him up. The others will ride the bus home from school. The kids seem to like their teachers and their classes. I have the feeling it will be a great school year, but a really busy one as well. Hope you're all doing well. Love ya, Trish

Andie Linn Mears baptism

I apologize for not getting these on the blog sooner. I guess we're all just figuring out how to use it.

On May 24, 2008 Andie was baptized. She was more than thrilled with the baptismal service as well as having all her friends and some of her family there. She was just glowing.

I've included some pics for you. The one by the font is with her friend Emma Bowser. Then in the primary room is Sophie Jensen, Andie and Emma Bowser. Outside the church is Ed and Sharon Mears, Jason, Trisha and Andie Mears, Jimmy and Eileen Mears. Then Mercie Jones snuck in at the last minute. Hope you enjoy. Love Trish and family

I know it's been a while, but thought I'd show some pics we took while Jason's parents and Aunt Eileen and Uncle Jimmy were visiting us back in May 08. We were able to go to Trier. Trier is only an hour north of us. It's the oldest city in Germay and was established by the Romans in the 16 BC. They have roman baths (big outdoor bathing areas - that look like small swimming pools which I don't have any pics of) , a coloseum where gladiators would fight as well as other battles happened (Trevor is standing in front of it. They were haveing an art display made out of metal recycling), the Cathedral (Jason, his mom, Andie, Uncle Jimmy, Carson and Aunt Eileen are standing in the for-front. We were able to walk through it and it is massive! At least 6 stories high. The arcitecture and art inside and out are amazing. It was interesting to see.), The fountain in the Hauptmarkt (Andie and Carson are hanging off of it. Uncle Jimmy, Trisha and Trevor are walking in front of them.) and many more cool things. I included a picture of the market square. It was a great place to visit. One that we hope to take you all to see if you're able to come visit. We toured the town by double decker bus. The kids loved sitting at the top and seeing all the sites. Sorry, I don't have pics of that either. We love you all and miss you tons. More later. Trish

Jeremy's birthday was just me and him! It was a lot of fun though.....lol We went to Tahoe Joes and mini golfing. Jeremy lost miserably in the first round but he kicked my butt in the second one. Kelsee's & Calvin's Birthday

We asked Kelsee what she wanted to do for her birthday and she said she wanted to go to the zoo. So we went to the zoo and had a blast seeing all the different animals. We also had a big family barbque on Calvin's birthday for both Calvin and Kelsee. It was alot of fun! Thanks to all of you who could come and celebrate with us! We missed those who couldn't come.

Birthday Boys!

Brigham and Carsten had a lot of fun opening presents and blowing out candles. They really like having their birthdays together. I hope they enjoy it this way for years and years, it makes the party planning easy. They wanted to have a monster cake and ate a lot of candy helping me decorate it. We pretty much partied for 3 straight days. The first, Sat. the 24th -Brigg's Day-started with a suprise decorated dinning room and a special birthday boys breakfast. Followed immediately with presents. A pretty good incentive to hurry and finish your eggs. We tried to get all our playing in that day, but it started raining. So, we couldn't fill the blow up pool and swim it was too cold. Carsten insisted on wearing his new swim suit the entire day though. Sun. the 25th -Carsten's Day- we sang happy birthday and had the cake and ice cream with the neighbors. Monday was warm enough for the pool, so we partied that day too.

Just thought I'd post some pictures. the first is a picture of Anna & Calvin with two Utah Jazz Cheerleaders, when we met some of the Jazz Players. The others are from our Disneyland Vacation in March. Kelsee & Shawn with Captain Hook, he took her watch form her and thought that was the coolest thing. Later that day she found a hook and put her watch on it and went around the store saying Captian Hook, Captain Hook. It was really cute.

This first photo is from November 1999 in Hawaii. I'm not crazy about me in the photo, but it's a great photo of Bob. He was with people he loves (his family), in a place he loves (Hawaii); it was great!!

The next July Bob visited me in DC and we went to see the fireworks on the Mall. You can tell it's him because of the hawaiian shirt and the cameras.

I love this last photo of him. We went to New York City to see the Radio City Music Hall Rockettes Christmas show. He had just flown in the day before and we had to ge tup early to catch the bus. He was so tired...

We hatched our own chicks

James borrowed the elementary's incubators and we turned eggs in them every 8 hours for weeks. It's like babysitting for weeks. Then finally hatching day arrived. It was so exciting to watch each egg wiggle and slowly crack open. The kids loved it! Now we have 34 chicks, mostly black, some yellow, brown, and gray striped. They're growing faster than the kids.
